- BBC: Country Profiles - profiles provide a guide to current news, history, media, politics, and economic background of countries and territories
- CIA: The World Factbook - offers current information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues of each country
- Europa World Year Book - updated annually, great for overviews on all aspects of a country (Ref Desk JN 1.E85 2012)

- Country Commercial Guides - click on the "Market Research Library," choose a country, and look particularly at chapter 8
