For Country Background Information

LexisNexis Academic - Use the "Business" tab, then choose "Country Profiles"

Country Commercial Guides - click on "Market Research Library" then choose a country to get a comprehensive look at its commercial environment

Background Notes - the State Department's country-by-country look at the land, people, history, government, political conditions, economy, and foreign relations

Europa World Year Book (Ref JN 1.385 2009) - updated annually, great for overviews on all aspects of a country

ABI/Inform Global - business journals and trade publications, includes the Wall Street Journal

LexisNexis Academic - U.S. and international newspapers and industry publications

Doing Business Indicators - statistics on business regulations and procedures by country

NationMaster - a massive central data source, good for comparing countries

EarthTrends - full of data tables that focus on environmental, social, and economic trends

International Financial Statistics - statistics from the IMF on all aspects of international and domestic finance

globalEDGE Resource Desk - a giant collection of international statistics sites from the International Business Center at Michigan State University
