Indexes to Government Information

Government agencies produce a wide variety of agriculture related information, including reports, data, hearings, bills, laws and proceedings. Some government information can be located using WestCat. The resources listed below can also be used to locate information from governmental agencies.

Congressional Research Service (CRS) provides Congressional committees and Members with timely, objective, and authoritative research and analysis, regardless of political party affiliation.

The CRS produces reports on request of Congress. UNT has collected many (albeit not all) of the CRS reports that have been released and provides free access to them in their Institutional Repository.
Catalog of U.S. Government Publications This link opens in a new window
An index to publications from U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. Congress. Many recent publications are available in full-text. WIU students, faculty and staff can aslo search the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications through First Search.

Congressional Budget Office
The Congressional Budget Office produces reports and analyses on budgetary and economic issues in support of the Congressional budget process.

The Serial Set contains reports from congressional committees dealing with proposed legislation and issues under investigation and other publications, usually from government agencies, that were ordered to be printed by the House or Senate. It includes publications from 1817 - 1980.

U.S. Department of Agriculture
The USDA and its 17 agencies deal with issues related to food, agriculture and natural resources.
USDA Cooperative Extension System
The Cooperative Extension System is a national network of offices that provide information and assistance to gardeners, agricultural producers, youth, small business owners, consumers, and others.
Illinois Department of Agriculture
The Illinois Department of Agriculture is an advocate for and regulates Illinois' agricultural industry.
