Agriculture: Agriculture Indexes

AGRICOLA is an index to over 4 million citations to journal articles, books, book chapters, government and other publications related to agriculture. It contains information on materials published since 1970, including links to digital publications when available. To find a subject term for a particular topic, use the Agricola Thesaurus.

A collection of publications from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), including full-text journal articles, papers from Annual and Section meetings, conference proceedings, textbooks, books, lectures and special publications. It covers a variety of topics including soil erosion, alternative fuels, and management of watersheds and animal waste.

An index to articles in over 4000 journals in the Biological Sciences, from 1996 to the present. Full text can be found using the Find It! button.

SCI is an interdisciplinary index to articles in over 3,500 journals from 2004 to the present. It can be used to search for information on who has cited an article. It can also be used to sign up for an account to EndNote, an online system that can be used to access, update and organize references for research.

MEDLINE contains references to journal articles in medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine and health care published since 1965.

An index to publications from U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. Congress. Many recent publications are available in full-text. WIU students, faculty and staff can aslo search the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications through First Search.

This version of Agricola is available for free from the National Agriculture Library (NAL). Books and government publications are in one database, while journal articles are in another, each of which must be searched separately. Some older government publications are available digitally through the NAL version of Agricola, while they may only be available as Microfiche in WestCat, I-Share or the other version of the index.

Ulrich's is an index that lists over 300,000 periodicals and journals by title, and provides information on the publisher, indexing and subjects. It can be used to determine whether a journal is peer reviewed (refereed).
