Sorting Search Results

Academic Search Complete has a number of ways to sort search results

ASC has a number of tools to sort search results called LIMITS. Two of the most useful are on the left sidebar. From here you can sort out magazines, newspapers, and magazine articles for background information, or academic journals for more in-depth research. You can also add subject terms to your search to narrow and focus it using the Subject: thesaurus terms beneath the source types. You can also use the slider on the right to narrow a date range, this can be useful to get articles from certain historical periods to compare how a topic has changed, for instance, attitudes about divorce in the 1970s and today. In addition, you can sort the list by relevance, and in ascending and descending date of publication.

If you do not see your results for your topic in the list, look at the top of the result list and make sure the Relevance menu is selected and not Newest. This will bring the topic of the list to the top if available the list!
