Illinois State Historical Society Publications Online

The Illinois State Historical Society has issued several different journals related to Illinois history, with a few title chages along the way. The following is a list of their journals by date:

Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society
Publishes essays, articles, and other publications about Illinois and the Midwest (1998-2004). They are available in print in the Periodicals Collection, Malpass Library, 3rd Floor, where they are filed by title.
Illinois Historical Journal
Illinois Historical Journal was published by the University of Illinois Press on behalf of the Illinois State Historical Society from 1984-1998.
Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society
Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society was published from 1908-1984. It included articles on Illinois history, culture and biography and reviews of book about Illinois and its people.
Transactions of the Illinois State Historical Society
The Transactions were published from 1900-1936. They provide summaries of meetings of the Society and texts of papers presented at the meetings. Some volumes of this journal from 1900-1922 are available online in the Hathi Trust Digital Library. They are also available in print in Government Publications, Malpass Library 977.3 ILLI. Papers in Illinois History and Transactions for the Year . . . of the Illinois State Historical Society
Published from 1937-1942, the Papers contain reports of the Society’s annual meetings, society business and articles on Illinois history. Illinois Heritage
