After my presentation you will work on an assignment. I like this assignment because you need to think a little bit before you design your search strategy. For help, you might visit The Phrase Finder.

Session Objectives

At the end of this session, you should be able to:

  1. Describe the contents of the PsycINFO database.
  2. Search by various "fields" (such as author, subject, and keyword).
  3. Know how to use the PsycINFO thesaurus.
  4. Use Boolean operators (and, or, not) to combine words/concepts.
  5. Limit results to specific fields (such as language, methodology, and population).
  6. Successfully complete in-class assignment.
