News Alert
Over the summer of 2010, WIU's Website and online catalogs underwent some changes.
The Libraries' Website
now has tabbed browsing on the home page; conveniently, you can search
for books, journals, databases, and other types of materials from the
same home page. We have also updated the browsing categories on the home
page to make it more intuitive. If you have trouble finding anything on
the Website, please let me or another librarian know so that we can
help you with whatever you need.
I-Share, the catalog for ordering books from other libraries in Illinois, changed to a new interface, called VuFind, on June 1. You will now need to log into a free account to order books through I-Share, and some of the functionalities will be different. A tutorial giving an overview of these differences is available here. A video explaining how to set up a new account in the VuFind interface is available here.
The interface of WestCat, the library's catalog, was also changed; a tutorial explaining the changes is available here.
Please feel free to ask any librarian for assistance with these new catalog interfaces.
Thanks to Bill Thompson for creating the tutorials, and thanks to Sean Cordes for creating the video!
Welcome
Welcome to the WIU Special Education Department Guide. This guide, which replaces the Special Education wiki, is intended to be a place where students and faculty in the Special Education Department can access resources available at the WIU Libraries and beyond. By clicking on the tabs located toward the top of the screen, you can find links to research databases, websites, and library resources. This site is a work in progress, and I am always open to suggestions regarding content, organization, or presentation. If you have any questions, suggestions, etc, feel free to contact me.
