Books and other publications provide a survey of general information in a subject or summarize information on a specific topic. Books available in the WIU Libraries can be located using WestCat, the Libraries’ online catalog. The following link will perform a subject search on the topic Weeds in WestCat.
Books in other Illinois libraries can be located using I-Share, the online catalog for Illinois academic libraries. The following link will perform a search on the topic of Weeds in I-Share.
Most books in I-Share can be requested from other Illinois libraries. To request a book, click on the word LOGIN in the upper right corner of the I-Share window. You will be asked to enter your Barcode and your Last Name. Your barcode is a library number (21711) and your University ID number. In other words, enter 21711 followed by your University ID number.
If an item is not available at WIU or another Illinois library, it can be borrowed from another library through Interlibrary Loan. The National Agriculture Library and WorldCat can also be used to find books on a variety of topics.
It is also possible to do keyword searches in WestCat and I-Share to find information on specific weeds (e.g. Loosestrife, Spurge, Jimsonweed).
