Biological Sciences: Professional Organizations

Department Research Guides identify and define standard information retrieval tools for a specific department. Each guide was created and is maintained by the library liaison for that department. We encourage you to recommend resources for the guides.

About Professional Organizations

Professional Organizations serve several different roles in the Sciences. They provide information to their members and researchers through their publications, both journals and books. They also help educate the public by raising public awareness of issues and informing the public of new advancements in their fields. Finally, they define and set standards for their fields, through adoption of codes of ethics and other work.

This page contains links to selected Professional Organizations in the Biological Sciences. A box at the bottom of the page links to lists of scholarly organizations in various fields of Biology from the Scholarly societies project. To suggest that an organization be added, please contact Linda Zellmer.
