AGRN 374 - Plant Disease Information Guide: Finding Books

This guide provides links to resources that can be used to research information about crop diseases. It includes indexes and databases, reference sources and links to government information on plant diseases.

Locating Books and Other Publications

Books and other publications provide a survey of general information in a subject or summarize information on a specific topic. Books available in the WIU Libraries can be located using WestCat, the Libraries’ online catalog. The following link will perform a subject search on the topic Plant Diseases in WestCat.

Books in other Illinois libraries can be located using I-Share, the online catalog for Illinois academic libraries. If an item is not available in the WIU Libraries, it can be borrowed from another library through Interlibrary Loan. The National Agriculture Library and WorldCat can also be used to find books on a variety of topics.

It is also possible to do keyword searches in WestCat and I-Share to find information on diseases of specific plants. Use the advanced search option in the database to search for the word Diseases and the name of a plant (e.g. Soybeans, Wheat, Rye, Corn, etc).
