Easy to backup locally.

Google Apps

I suggest that you explore the world of free google apps. I use iGoogle as my homepage. It has many useful free apps.

RSS Feeds

Really Simple Syndication. Enables you to keep track of oceans of content. Look for the familiar symbol when you are online.

Zotero

Zotero is a free citation management software for Firefox. Use it to save, organize, and present online citations.   2.0.3 is the latest version, and it allows for backup on Zotero servers.

Google Apps

If you want to make your online life to run smoother and more efficiently, consider using an assortment of free Google Apps. I have become heavilty dependent on such Google apps as Calendar, Alerts, Docs, iGoogle, Books, Checkout, Picassa, Chrome, Earth and more!
