Citations from databases are machine-generated, and they can and do contain mistakes. Make sure you review your citations closely to make sure they contain no errors.

Export it!

Most databases also allow you to send links and citations to your bibliographic management software (RefWorks, EndNote, etc.). Look for links labeled "export" somewhere in the article record.

Getting article citations from the database record

Most library databases contain a link for each article labeled "cite" or "cite this." You can click on these links to get a pre-generated citation from the database. Look for the citation link on the items full record to find instructions for how to capture citations in some of the library's most popular databases.

The citation icon is usally part of the tools section.The tools are often found on the right or top-right of the item's page, but can also be on the left. These can "usually"  be found under "tools".

You will often find the Cite button grouped with other tools like print, email, and export! After you click on the Cite icon, a new window will pop up, and several citations will appear in various styles. Identify which style you need to use. Then, copy and paste the correct citation into your reference list. Choose the style you need from the drop-down menu, copy the citation and paste it into your reference list.
