General Information about the U.S. Code

The U.S. Code:

  • Is a compilation of existing current law that takes in all session laws or public laws and amendments that have been passed.  The U.S. Code is arragned by subjects that are identified by Titles.
  • Each Title will then have sections.  For example, Title 29 deals with Labor.   Section 2601+ in Title 29 deals with the subject of Family and Medical Leave.  Thus, 29 U.S. 2601+  is the main area of family and medical leave law.

This tool helps identify the Public Law session and number of popular laws.  It also identifies the area of the U.S. Code of a particular Public Law. There are a couple of versions, these example use the office of legal revision counsel.
