Government Document

Author_Name, Initials. (Year). Title of Government Publication. Place of Publication: Name of Agency OR Government Printing Office.

Note: For government documents without an identified author, list the agency name as the author.

Citing Laws in APA Style

Acts of U.S. Congress

Title of Act of Year, Pub. L. No. CCC-LLL, VVV Stat. PPP (Year).

Note: CCC is the Congress Number, LLL is the law number, VVV is the volume number of Statutes at Large and PPP is the page number of the law in Statutes at Large.

Law in U.S. Code

Title of Act of Year, TT USCS § SSSS (Year).

Note: TT is the Title number of U.S. Code and SSSS is the section number.

Illinois General Assembly Session Law

Title of Act, Pub. Act GGG-XXX, Year Ill. Laws PPPP (Year).

Note: GGG is the General Assembly Number and XXX is the act number

Illinois Compiled Statutes

Statute Title, CC ILCS XX (Year).

Note: CC is the chapter number and XX is the Section Number. If using the online Compiled statutes, use the year listed in the Effective Date.
