Course Reserves: Result Lists

Course reserves provide access to items needed for class assignments. Instructors can place items on reserve for students enrolled in their courses. It can sometimes be referred to as electronic reserves (ERes)

Books on Reserve

If WIU Libraries does not own a copy of book, the professor can loan a copy in some circumstances. These are recognizable because they are given a book number (i.e. BK 121 in this example).

Note: When looking at any Course Reserves search result (any type of item), pay attention to whether or not the item is "in place," meaning that it is not currently loaned out to someone else.

If WIU Libraries permanently owns a copy or copies of a book on reserve, it will have a call number listed. In this example, the Curriculum Library owns more than one copy of The Poet X: a Novel and has temporarily loaned one to the Reserve collection for the semester.

Readings on Resrve

Shorter readings are categorized differently than whole books. You can recognize them by the Journal icon and label. If they are available online, scroll down to the View Online section of the record (below More from the same Course in many cases) and click on "view content." You'll be asked to log in with your ecom credentials.

Videos on Reserve

Videos on reserve will be have a label and icon identifying them. Most are available in physical format only and will need to be watched in the library.
