Course Reserves: Using The Items

Course reserves provide access to items needed for class assignments. Instructors can place items on reserve for students enrolled in their courses. It can sometimes be referred to as electronic reserves (ERes)

Where Can I Pick Up My Stuff?

You can check out physical course reserve materials at the Access Services Desk on the 2nd floor

  • Items at the reserve desk are designated a 2-hour (in-house) check out period.
  • Items with reserve status are listed in the online catalog under Course Reserves and are available behind the counter at Malpass Access Services or at the Curriculum, Music, or Quad Cities library).
  • Your student ID will be held during this time.

Readings on Resrve

Shorter readings are categorized differently than whole books. You can recognize them by the Journal icon and label. If they are available online, scroll down to the View Online section of the record (below More from the same Course in many cases) and click on "view content." You'll be asked to log in with your ecom credentials.

Watching A Video

Have a video on reserve and need to watch it?

Have a DVD?

  • DVDs can be viewed on library computers with optical drives or on the 1st Floor at the Digital Commons video viewing stations.

Have a VHS?

  • VHSs can only be viewed at the Digital Commons video viewing station. 

Headphone are required when viewing video. They are available for checkout from the Digial Commons. You will need your Student ID. 

VHS / DVD viewing
