Searching for Books

Use WestCat to search for items within WIU's collection. Try narrowing your search using the "advanced search" and specifying keywords by title or author, if you know the name of the book or the author. Otherwise, "Any Word Anywhere" is good for finding books with the search terms anywhere in the catalog record. Searching by subject will help find books under a certain subject heading, and from there you can find a book under that subject and see under which subjects other works may be classified.

If you find an interesting book that is currently checked out from WIU, you can search for that book in I-Share. This is a system that searches for books in all participating Illinois libraries and allows you to request a free transfer of a book to WIU. You can also repeat searches from WestCat in I-Share using the on-screen prompts in WestCat if your search results don't turn up what you're looking for.
