Best sources of Federal regulations

The federal agencies themselves will often have links on their Web sites to the Federal Register notices they publish - and the  regulations they administer. 

Also, in LN Academic the sections of the law in the Annotated U.S. Code Service in  will cite and link the relevant Code of Federal Reguations sections for each section of the U.S. Code.

The links below are additional ways to find regulatory information.

Searching the Code of Federal Regulations

Basic instructions for using the cCFR (Code of Federal Regulations)
  1. You will see a Find blank where you put your title terms
  2. You will also see a Title Blank. These are the sections of 50 sections of Law
  3. You can narrow your search here by choosing the term in the area you would find it (the Title)
  4.  For instance, if I want Food Stamp information, I put Food Stamps, to narrow more, add Title 7 for Agriculture
  5. The filter the results by hierarchy and work your way down the index until you see a result you need
  6.  Title 7 → Subtitle B → Chapter II → Subchapter C →       Part 273 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance and Food Distribution Program
Basic Instruction for using the CRS (Congressional Research Service)

1. Go to the CRS website.

2. Enter your keywords.

3. Search and review the results.

4. Refine your topic on the right side.
