The search method for finding dissertations and theses on ProQuest is consistent, whether you are looking for WIU dissertations or dissertations from other universities. The ProQuest interface and search functionality work the same way.
To access WIU dissertations and theses specifically, you would go to the "Articles and Databases" tab on the library website, select "Dissertations & Theses @ WIU (via ProQuest)" from the A-Z list, and then enter your search terms.
However, the overall search process for finding any dissertation or thesis on ProQuest is the same, regardless of the institution. The interface and search options work the same way whether you are searching for WIU papers or papers from other universities.
The key point is that the ProQuest platform provides a consistent search experience for accessing dissertations and theses, regardless of the institution of origin. The search method does not differ between WIU papers and non-WIU papers on the ProQuest platform.
To access WIU Dissertations and Theses go to the Articles and Databases tab, from the A-Z list select Dissertations & Theses @ WIU (via ProQuest). Notice the Title of the page shows you are searching the correct database for WIU materials. Enter one or more keywords in the blank. You can sort the results on the left. If you don’t see useful titles, try sorting the results by Relevance. You can select the publication date range and narrow things down by subject. The example below shows a search for dissertations and theses here at WIU. Note that the date range can be set to include only those papers published after the year 2000, which gives me results within the last five years!
