Census 2020: College Students Count!

Information on why the Census is taken and how Census data can be used.

Living On Campus?

If you live in on campus in a dormitory, University Housing receives a “Group Quarters” form. Group quarters are places where people live or stay in a group living arrangement. University Housing will fill out the form for everyone living in the Dormitories.

Living Off Campus?

If you live off campus, watch your mail for a letter from the Census Bureau in March. One person in each house or apartment should fill out the form and include everyone in the household (except pets). You will be able to answer the Census online, over the phone or request a paper form. Alternatively, you could have a party and answer it as a group!

International Students Count Too!

The U.S. Code and the Supreme Court state that ALL residents should be counted, including International Students. Census data is used to assign the number of seats in the House of Representatives to states. However, it is also used by people providing services, businesses and government agencies applying for grants. Thus, your participation in the Census is important! All information is confidential.
