Welcome to the Curriculum and Instruction Department Guide! Here, you can find information about education related services and resources available at the WIU Libraries and beyond. By clicking on the tabs located toward the top of the screen, you can find links to subject encyclopedias, article databases, websites, and library resources.

As your department's library liaison, I am also available for help with a variety of research-related needs, including:

What's in this Guide

Article databases

This page lists some of the relevant library databases you will want to use for research.


Here you will find a list of individual journal titles you may want to look for in the course of your research. These are also great places to submit an article for publication.


The library has a wide selection of education books for you to use. This page provides you with some sample searches you can use in Westcat (the library's online catalog) to find books.

Web resources

This page provides some websites and other online materials to help you get started with online research. It includes information on federal and state governmental resources, as well as multimedia.

Professional organizations

Professional development is essential for keeping current on education-related topics and meeting other educators. You may want to consider joining some of the organizations found on this page. Professional organizations also typically provide reports, data sets and other research for free.
