Objectives of this assignment:

• Develop appropriate and effective graduate research concepts
• Investigate and develop strategies for developing research topics and assimilate resources
• Use visualization tools in scholarly dissemination

There are many ways to approach research, but regardless of the method you need a solid understanding of the topic, especially the perspectives and areas that you want to focus on.

• Learn to define your information need clearly and concisely.
• Background reading is crucial. Know what sources to use and how.
• Develop a research question. What do you want to find out?
• Identify the information retrieval tools, such as library databases, that can satisfy your information need.
• Learn how to use search tools and  strategies effectively and efficiently.

So whenever I set about to do research there are some very basic steps I take to make sure that the idea is worth the effort, and I have a solid start based in fact. The video summarizes the research problem.
