HIST 421G - Global Environmental History: Finding Books

This guide provides links to resources that can be used to find information on global environmental issues.

Finding Books & Government Publications

Books contain summaries of research on a particular topic, such as Mark Jameson's Silent Spring Revisted. They may also be government publications and reports on environmental problems, such as the GAO report titled: Climate change: EPA and DOE should do more to encourage progress under two voluntary programs: report to Congressional requesters.

Books and government publications can be found using Library online catalogs, such as WestCat and I-Share, or union catalogs such as WorldCat, an index to books, maps and other resources owned by libraries throughout the World. When searching WestCat, I-Share and WorldCat, do a keyword search on the topic of interest. Remember to search for related terms (e.g. Climate Change OR Global Warming).

A short video on Finding Books shows how to search for and request books in I-Share and using I-Share to generate citations. It and several other videos are available in the Library Instruction section of this Guide.
