This is the basic setup of the Advanced Search page for Soc Abs. Here are some tips:

  • use the Thesaurus link to search for official Subject Headings
  • enter one or more search words; each concept should have its own row; use quotation marks for a phrase
  • specify the type of search you want to do; use Anywhere or Abstract for keywords, Subject Heading for official terms
  • set limits for the search: Peer reviewed only, publication date, other limits below

Thesaurus

Use the Thesaurus to find the correct terminology for a topic or concept. Access it above the search boxes on the Advanced Search screen.  
 

Here I did a search for terms that begin with "older."Earlier, the correct term was "older adult," but now Soc Abs wants us to "elderly."
