The Cuban Missile Crisis occurred between October 16th and October 28th in 1962. After the failed Bay of Pigs invasion the year before, tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States continued to grow concerning the stationing of ballistic missiles by both powers in various countries around the globe. Tensions culminated with a blockade by the United States in attempt to prevent Soviet missiles from being delivered to missile stations in Cuba. The situation deescalated with a deal made by between the United States and the Soviet Union regarding their missile supplies.
