V2 Pre-Migration
You will be able to do anything you do now in version 1, and the www.libguides.com site will have the version 1 content for the public view. During this time you should delete old guides, clean up old content and dead links, and convert rich text box links to simple links or links and list boxes for migration. I will be adjusting the version 2 interface and system, and testing features. Everything you want migrated needs to be in version 1 by midnight June 7.
Migration
At 1 am on June 8 migration will begin and take about 24 hours. Do not publish anything to either system during this time. I will be monitoring the migration throughout the day.
V2 Post-Migration
From June 9 to August 19, you will only be able to view version 1, but it will still have the wiu.libguides.com url and be the public face. In version 2, look for and clean up any errors that may have happened. You can also and add new guides and content to version 2 but it still has the beta url, wiu.beta.libguides.com. Also, feel free to contact me for assistance at this time. The second week in August I will hold two informational / training sessions (dates on the schedule).
V2 Live
On August 20 the site goes live. This may mean up to a few hours of down time of both sites to transfer the domain name. I will move the old version 1 site to a temporary domain and url where it will be archive and available for viewing only for 6 months. I will send the archived url out in case you need to review version 1 content. Then I will map our existing url to version 2, so it becomes wiu.libguides.com and the public face. One way to think of this is right now our version 1 site is in the LibGuides Main Community list, after this version 2 will be. Finally, I will perform a final clean-up of the new site.
