Reference Books on Countries of Origin

Library of Congress Subject Headings:

WIU Libraries has books on most countries of origin, but you will want to narrow down the focus of the book. A few subheadings that can be helpful are:

• "Social life and customs": Use after "names of countries, cities, etc., and under classes of persons and ethnic groups."
• "Civilization": Use after "names of countries, cities, etc."  [use instead of Culture]
• "Food": Use after "ethnic groups" [use instead of Food habits]

Here are examples that show the pattern:

• "Mexico food"
• "Cherokee indians social life and customs"
• "Ghana civilization"

Various, depending upon the region or people AND the focus being searched.
